Mount Airy Christian Academy (MACA) is an Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and Mid-Atlantic States (MS) certified school. We stress academic rigor and critical thinking. We do not teach common core, but instead meet high standards in the Christian and secular realms of education, taking advantage of quality curriculum from various publishers. MACA’s middle school program provides challenging courses in science, Bible and history and accelerated courses in both math and English, setting the critical foundation necessary for a successful high school career. Students also take courses in band, computers, physical education, art and language. Time-proven educational strategies administered by a loving, professional staff stretches each child to new levels of academic thinking, social skills, and character building. MACA middle school exists to build this lifestyle in each student individually and to do so within a Christian, grace-filled environment. Our middle school program is a member of the National Junior Honor Society which recognizes students who excel academically, while students interested in developing leadership and service experience participate in our middle school Student Council Association as class representatives and middle school-wide officer positions. Weekly chapel services provide theme-based challenges from God’s Word designed to develop each child’s personal knowledge of our Lord. As members of the Maryland Independent Athletic Conference (MIAC), MACA’s middle school students have the opportunity to experience highly competitive sports while developing coordination and physical strength. Within a loving and nurturing environment, MACA middle school students benefit from:
- Accelerated Courses in English and Math
- National Junior Honor Society
- Competitive Sports Program
- Weekly Chapel Service
- State-of-the-Art Science Lab
- In-class Technology Integration
- Drama Program
Middle School Anti-Bullying Initiative
Mount Airy Christian Academy’s Principal, Dr. Patrick Korn announced the start of the MACA “ABOVE” Initiative. This program is a three-pronged strategy designed to empower students and staff with the skills, training, and education to create a campus culture which fights cruelty and promotes kindness. Students are empowered to “be there” for others, providing kindness, hope, and support. As part of this Initiative, MACA “Above” Groups were created. These teams are designed for students who are passionate about raising awareness and becoming part of the solution. Desiring to assist and educate their peers, the Middle School “Above” Group created a video which challenges us all with the question, “Will you take a stand against bullying?” High school technology students Will Brethauer and Eli Schaefer filmed and edited the video.
