The School Board exists for the purpose of oversight, encouragement, general support and decision making for Mount Airy Christian Academy (MACA).

Our School Board Officers:

Mike Soulen – Chairman of the Board

Mike is the Executive Vice President at Barrons Enterprises,  an independently owned lumber and building material supplier that serves architects, custom home builders, remodelers and deck builders in the Washington D.C. metropolitan market since 1947.  At Barrons, Mike works directly with the CEO to set strategy, align the organization and lead the management team to achieve short and long term goals, which includes delivering value to their customers to help them succeed.

Mike’s daughter has attended MACA since her early elementary years and is currently in middle school.

He is a committed follower of Christ.   His family attends Damascus Road Community Church where they serve in the Haven special needs ministry & the S.W.A.T. ministry.

James Puckett

James is a Department of Defense Liaison to the White House. He works with members of the President’s National Security Council staff to include the Assistant to the President of the United States for National Security Affairs to ensure they have the information they need to best support the Executive Office of the President.

James has had children at MACA for 15 years (since 2005).

He is strategically and technically minded, so is passionate about working with organizations to form structures that enable them to achieve their goals over time. He joined the board to ensure that sustainability and fulfillment of God’s mission is carried out over the entire tenure of a MACA student, so that parents of kindergartners today will have the joy of a MACA graduate in 13 years.

Jill Sadowski

Growing up as a preacher’s kid, I always valued my walk with God and had a heart for discipleship. I made a commitment to follow Jesus at a young age, and continue to try to abide in Him daily. After I graduated from a Christian college with a degree in Religion, I really developed a passion for Christian education. I continued to seek opportunities both to be discipled and to disciple others in my local church.

When it was time to choose education for my children there was no contest. My husband and I evaluated the Christian schools in the area and believed Mt. Airy Christian Academy to be the best choice for our family. Each year from kindergarten through 12th grade, my twin girls thrived at MACA! They learned academically, socially, and spiritually. After MACA they went on to Cedarville University with one-third scholarships , and are now serving the Lord in northern Virginia and Vietnam. It is clear that the foundation laid by MACA was instrumental in preparing them for their current roles.

I am blessed and humbled to serve on the Mt. Airy Christian Academy school board.

Core Values of the MACA School Board:

• We believe that every student is a unique creation of God with potential in Christ
• Parents are entrusted with the education of their children and we serve to assist them with that God-given job
• God is our ultimate authority and the basis for all knowledge and actions shall be the Bible
• Christ shall be at the center of all we do and say, and students shall be pointed toward Him at all times
• Through love and discipline, with the goal of a changed heart, we will work to develop each student’s character
• A personal relationship with Christ and the development of biblical worldview are preeminent for each student
• Academic instruction shall be age appropriate, effective and constantly improving
• The learning process shall be sequential and systematic
• Our faculty members and staff shall all be born-again Christians with a desire to serve God through loving and serving the students and each other

As a ministry of Mount Airy Bible Church (MABC), MACA is under the authority of the Elder Board.  The Elder Board established the School Board to provide the necessary leadership, vision and policy framework to guide MACA in its ongoing operations, development and growth.  The Elder Board authorizes the School Board to take any and all action necessary to fulfill such purposes. While all decisions of the School Board shall be considered final, the Elder Board reserves the right to review any decision of the School Board it deems necessary.  Just as the School Boards serves under the Elder Board, the School Administrator serves under the authority of the School Board.
