MACA’s Next Star Teacher Touches Lives In and Out of the Classroom:
Who can remember when some MACA classrooms were in the current gym area? Our next Star Teacher can because one of those classrooms was where she taught third grade. In fact, this teacher has taught third grade at MACA for 13 years and she still does! Have you guessed who our Star Teacher is this time? That’s right, Mrs. Steph Finch, MACA third grade teacher. Many lives have been touched by this amazing teacher over the years.
“I loved the way Mrs. Finch engaged our 3rd grade class in learning through games,” said Andrew Schrider, soon-to-be MACA graduate who spent his third grade year in Mrs. Finch’s room. “Mrs. Finch is just a great teacher.”
Megan Harmon, Elementary LEAD Teacher, has much to praise about Steph Finch. “Steph is creative and engaging in her classroom. Her students are learning and behaving and having fun. Her room is like a second home to many of her students. She makes her students feel comfortable and leads them all to have the confidence to believe they can meet the challenges of learning.”
MACA’s administration recognizes the value of Mrs. Finch to the school’s mission to mature our students academically, physically, spiritually, and socially. “Steph’s creative assessments stand out. Her students are learning well, but it is fun. The students often don’t even realize they are learning because they are having so much fun,” commented Patrick Korn, Secondary Principal. “And her biblical integration is always seamless, not forcing a unit of learning to connect with biblical principals, but truly integrating it into the lesson.”
Over the years of teaching, Mrs. Finch has worked through school growth and changes and, at the same time, has raised four boys with all the challenges that can include, but she has always done so with calmness. “She consistently has a great attitude,” stated Susan Woolverton, MS LEAD teacher. “She has always done what she needed to do, but did so with grace, even when she may be facing her own struggles.” In addition, Norm Rust, HS LEAD teacher stated, “Steph has a real servant’s heart.”
Steph Finch is a vital part of MACA’s mission to provide a quality education from a Christian worldview while loving all with whom she comes in contact. “I mean, raise your hand if Steph has ever made a meal for your family,” laughed Harmon. “She has gone the extra mile to personally care for many of us on staff.”
Steph Finch is very deserving of MACA’s Star Teacher Award for her commitment to MACA, her creative teaching, her loving heart for all her students, and her many behind-the-scenes efforts to help those around her. We love you, Mrs. Finch, and we are proud to call you our next Star Teacher! Congrats!
