10-Year Veteran MACA Teacher, Mrs. Korn, is Chosen as the Newest Star Teacher
Mrs. Katie Korn is not new to MACA, but she is our newest Star Teacher. Having been in education for 13 years and taught at MACA for 10 years, Mrs. Korn has touched the lives of many students and she continues to do so. She has taught classes in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy and Physiology, Ecology, and Health, and she began teaching in the MACA STEM program this year. She also serves as the campus-wide Science Department Head Teacher for MACA and is leading her team of science teachers in the development of a standards-based, K-12 science scope and sequence. Simply put, Mrs. Korn does a phenomenal job at all she does.
“Mrs. Korn does everything with thoughtfulness and excellence,” praised Mr. Rust, Korn’s LEAD teacher. “As seasoned a teacher as she is, she still strives to become a better instructor. She is a great example for all of us.”
This year, for the first time, students at MACA from kindergarten through 12th grade have the chance to learn from Mrs. Korn. “My kindergarten students enjoy Mrs. Korn’s STEM elective class this year,” said Miss Harmon, MACA kindergarten teacher. “The children come back to class excited about science and about learning the scientific method.”
Many students in Mrs. Korn’s classes are quick to express their great appreciation for how she pours into them as learners. “Mrs. Korn genuinely cares about her students more than words can describe and without her I wouldn’t be a fraction of the person I am today,” shared Ian Herdt, MACA senior student. “She stands up for those who need it most, fights for those who need a voice, and is always there whenever people need her.”
Mrs. Korn encourages her students to think deeply, to see science from a Biblical worldview and to become lifelong learners. As an instructor, she is a key player in MACA’s success in preparing students for college and beyond. Thank you, Mrs. Korn, for all you do. You are one of our brightest stars!
