A number of MACA high school students, as part of the MACA CARES group, accompanied by two MACA parents as well as secondary History teacher Mr. Rust, participated in a community service activity this past month at a local church, Calvary United Methodist Church, located on Main Street in Mount Airy. The church provides a community outreach ministry every Thursday evening known as “God’s Kitchen,” during which the church provides a free hot meal with an open table. All are welcome, and the ministry has grown over the past several years by leaps and bounds. God’s Kitchen is sustained by a solid group of volunteers from the church, and feeds over 100 people in the surrounding communities every week. The MACA students were welcomed with open arms and immediately got to work, helping with set up, food preparation, serving and clean up. We hope to have more students participate in this awesome ministry in the future, and are very thankful to Calvary for welcoming MACA students.
