MACA’s middle-school retreat gave the students a chance to mix faith and fun! The retreat, held at River Valley Ranch, involved games, class bonding, praise and worship, Scripture teaching, and small groups.
Mr. Teixeira created the ice breaker games for the students “The game was a variation of dodgeball that turned into a fishing expedition–the ball ended up in the creek more than once. Everyone got wet and had fun.” After the games, everyone trooped into the building for some music by Mr. Anderes and Mr. & Mrs. Sorensen, who led the group in worship.
Pastor Frank Taylor spoke about the story of Jesus healing the demon-filled man by sending the demons into the pigs. He talked about the responses of all the different people involved. The students then got into break out groups and discussed the message in small groups. They tackled questions like “If you were the healed man, what would you tell your family and friends about what had happened to you? Do you think they would have listened?” and “Based on this story, what does God expect from you and why?” Lunch was served by our awesome parents, and we finished out the day zip lining, playing in the creek, throwing the football around, and playing Gaga ball. All together, it was a great trip that helped set the tone for the year!
