Mrs. Bouslog and five of her art students attended the 2016 ASCI Fine Arts Festival at Messiah College on Tuesday, March 8. While only five students were able to attend the event, eight MACA artists submitted their original art pieces in the competition. The results of the competition were:
Good ratings: Abby Forsberg, Willis Gammell, Emma Magnuson, Anneliese Ott, Savannah Schaefer and Andrew Schrieder.
Excellent ratings: Mackenzie Hunt and Keirra Shaffer
While their submissions were being judged, these students attended workshops which were conducted by Messiah College art Instructors. Sample workshops they attended include monotype printmaking and constructing clay stones. The clay stone workshop was designed around an on-going, ever-changing installation on the campus of Messiah College titled “Community.” Clay stones made during the festival by the MACA students will be added to the site on the College campus.
Mrs. Bouslog reports that it was a great trip and she highly recommends any student interested in art plan to attend next year’s festival. The event is open to all MACA students, not just those enrolled in art. Attendees are able to walk through the art exhibit and view art work submitted by students from hundreds of other high schools throughout the northeast region. “It definitely was an inspiring day for me as an instructor,” stated Bouslog. “It was great to see the ability with which God has blessed so many young people.” Congrats go out to Mrs. Bouslog and our talented students!
