MACA’s mission includes maturing students academically, physically, spiritually, and socially. One of the ways students grow socially is to assume leadership roles among their peers, both in and out of the classroom. Each spring, MACA recognizes middle school students who have served as godly examples to their peers and engaged their classmates as leaders. Worthy students are nominated and chosen by the middle school faculty. Nomination and selection are based on a range of criteria from following God’s direction in making decisions to demonstrating humility to caring for others to practicing reflection and learning from failure.
This year, seven middle-school students were recognized for their outstanding leadership, including Jackson Anderes (6th), Mackenzie Bowman (7th), Brooke Trybus (7th), Grayson Cook (8th), Kylie DesLauriers (8th), Connor Gilbert (8th), and Yemi Ogunsola (8th).
Annually, one middle school student is chosen to receive the Vicky L. Webster Middle School Leadership Award. This honor recognizes one middle school student who consistently demonstrates exemplary leadership qualities at the very highest level—truly a leader among leaders. The 2018 winner of this prestigious award is Kylie DesLauriers. Kylie was recognized in front of the entire secondary school on Thursday, May 3. Kylie’s name will be listed on the perpetual plaque displayed in the MACA secondary office. Congrats to all of MACA’s middle-school leaders!
