The MACA chapters of the National Honor Society and Junior National Honor Society held their 2016 induction ceremony on Thursday, April 14, 2016. The event was attended by a gymnasium full of students, parents, friends and family members. The NHS/NJHS are organizations established to recognize outstanding students. Membership in these groups is determined by more than merely academics, and includes demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character. Selection was based on the required minimum GPA, a lengthy application submission and a multi-step review process by a council of faculty members at the student’s academic level. Membership in this prestigious organization is highly selective and, therefore, a great honor.
This year’s new inductees to the MACA NHS were Ashtyn Bouslog, Abby Forsberg, Willis Gammell, Karla Hembree, Mackenzie Hunt, Jessie Markley, Zavier Marmol, Colton Ramsey, Estiven Saldarriaga, Rebekah Sefton, Alena Shaffer, Brady Smith and Abby Woolverton. New members of the NJHS were Samuel Arhin, Jacob Brethauer, Berkeley Cook, Val D’Ambrosia, Christian Eppich, Val Gorden, Gianna Hegler, Laura Howard, Molly Kichline, Georgia Leonard and Ally Webb.
The ceremony ended with an inspirational challenge given by Mr. Norm Rust in which he discussed God’s command to honor each other and encouraged all in attendance to honor others above self. Following the ceremony, new and returning members and their families were the guests of a special reception given in their honor. MACA is extremely proud of its students are is pleased to honor students who align themselves with our school mission, to mature academically, physically, spiritually and socially.
