Friday April 1st was no April Fool’s day at MACA. Students were able to finally complete their community projects from our Go Beyond week. Kindergarten, first and second grade students made art projects and delivered them to residents at Lorien Assisted Living after they shared a mini-concert with the residents. Third, fourth and fifth graders went to Lisbon Fire Company and then Mt. Airy Fire Company to deliver flag projects and thank you cards as they expressed appreciation to our local fire companies. Middle school students spent the morning doing outdoor work at the Therapeutic Recreational and Riding Center in Glenwood. Our high school students also went different directions to serve: ninth grade girls prepared and served lunch at New Life Home for Girls in Westminster and the ninth grade boys joined the juniors at the SERRV International shop in New Windsor unpacking boxes, preparing shipments and serving. Sophomore girls put together furniture at Mt. Airy Baptist Church and worked to help their preschool program. Sophomore boys tackled some much needed cleaning and organizing projects around MACA when the rainy morning cancelled their plans to paint at the Mt. Airy Fireman’s fairgrounds. The seniors used their morning to prepare their pictures and testimonies from their recent senior missions trip to Costa Rica.
MACA students truly did go beyond. They went beyond their classroom walls, beyond their comfort zones and out into the community to share. We are very proud of each one of them!
