Elementary students headed to First Fruits Farm in Freeland, Maryland earlier this school year to harvest vegetables! First Fruits Farm is a non-profit Christian ministry that donates 100% of the food that they grow to food banks, soup kitchens and homeless shelters throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. They are dedicated to providing fresh food for hungry people in the community. First Fruits’ motto is Grow Food. Give Food. Serve Others. Students at MACA were able to serve First Fruits Farm and the community by harvesting potatoes during their visit. Over 11.5 million pounds of fruits and vegetables have been harvested by volunteers since their start in 2004. We are excited about the lifelong lessons our students here at MACA can learn from participating in this wonderful service opportunity.
